Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty
A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.
Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.
How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
- Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemednecessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
- Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
- No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
- Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
- Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
- Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
- Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
- Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
- Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.
Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage
Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.
If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:
- NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
- USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
- GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
- BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.

Where are Epiphone Dove guitars made? ›Epiphone Dove (Made In Korea)(Very Good) *Free Shipping* w/ Hard Case | Reverb.
Is the Epiphone Dove a dreadnought? ›The Epiphone Dove Studio takes its cue from parent company Gibson's legendary dreadnought model, the Dove Original.
Is the Epiphone Hummingbird easy to play? ›The guitar was strung with D'Addario light strings. This is what Epiphone puts on the Hummingbird, and on the Dove guitars at the factory. The Hummingbird has a smaller diameter neck than most full size guitars, so it is very easy on the hands, and easy to play most chords.
What is the most versatile Epiphone? ›Gibson Les Paul
The first versatile electric guitar on my list simply has to be the Epiphone Les Paul. This guitar is an absolute classic and I challenge you to change my mind on the fact that it is the most versatile electric guitar out there.
We're not saying that Gibson and Epiphone guitars will feel or sound the same. If you picked up a US-made Gibson and compared it to an Epiphone then you would probably notice a difference. The quality, setup and finish on a Gibson will almost always be superior.
Where are the best epiphones made? ›The Epiphone Masterbilt range of guitars are still made in Qingdao, China. Epiphone was founded in 1873 and was only acquired by Gibson in 1957. Prior to opening the Qingdao factories, Epiphone manufactured their guitars in other Chinese factories such as Dongbei, Muse and Mirr, and also in Taiwan, Korea and Indonesia.
Is Epiphone made in China? ›In 2004, Gibson opened a factory in Qingdao, China, which manufactures Epiphone guitars. With few exceptions, Epiphones are now built only in the Qingdao factory. Also in 2004, Epiphone introduced a series of acoustic guitars named Masterbilt, after a line of guitars of the 1930s, which are built in the same factory.
Does Gibson own Epiphone? ›In 1957, the company that owned Gibson bought out Epiphone and since then, they've been sister companies. Other brands may make copies of the Les Paul, SG, 335 etc but Gibson and Epiphone are the only two brands that can really lay claim to these guitars.
Can you tell a difference between Epiphone and Gibson? ›The big difference between Epiphone and Gibson guitars is the finish. Gibson models are coated in a vintage style nitrocellulose lacquer. This can be satin or gloss. Epiphone guitars come shipped in a tougher poly finish.
Is Epiphone made by Fender? ›
The Epiphone is manufactured by Gibson, while the Squier Stratocaster is manufactured by Fender; both instruments are budget-friendly guitars and beginner level instruments that are inspired by some of the most famous guitar's history.
Do any famous musicians play an Epiphone? ›The most famous group known for playing Epiphones were The Beatles. Known worldwide for their memorable hits and their massive fan following, The Beatles members, particularly John Lennon and George Harrison, have been fans of the Casino, while Paul McCartney also opted for an Epiphone Texan at various times.
Do any musicians play Epiphone? ›Dave Davies (Kinks) can be seen playing an Epiphone Casino in the video for "All Day and All of the Night". Tom DeLonge (Blink-182, Angels & Airwaves) uses his signature ES-333 in both Epiphone and Gibson versions. Pete Doherty (The Libertines/Babyshambles) uses a Coronet as his main electric guitar.
What Epiphone did John Lennon play? ›John Lennon used the Epiphone Casino as his main electric instrument during the remainder of his time with the Beatles, replacing the Rickenbacker 325.
What is the Epiphone closest to a Gibson? ›Both the Gibson LP and the Epiphone LP look very identical if you just give them a quick glance over. As a matter of fact, you probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the two instruments. Not unless you got up close enough to look at the name that's on the headstock.
Why are epiphones so cheap? ›the neck is one piece, not a scarf joint, the body is a 2 piece body not a multipiece of mystery wood with a laminate. Right there there is a massive cost difference. As the company that made the body and neck make very few, they make them when they have the right wood and do not make a lot .
Is Epiphone good enough? ›Are Epiphone guitars any good? Yes, they are. An Epiphone guitar can hold its own ground when compared to a Gibson. Guitar players who've used the brand are quick to note that there is a distinction in the sound and feel of the two guitars that would mark them as two very different instruments.
Can you make an Epiphone sound like a Gibson? ›The only Epiphones that come close are the ones from Japan (which cost almost as much as a Gibson does anyway and are very hard to track down). There is no pickup upgrade, no tuner upgrade, no bridge, nut, control pot, jack or anything else which will make an Epiphone sound or feel like a Gibson.
Are Chinese made epiphones good? ›Chinese Epis are just as good as the older Korean ones. When Gibson opened their own Epi plant in China that they still supervise. Epis have gotten so much better IMHO the best they have ever been.
Are there fake Epiphones? ›The majority of fake Epiphones are imported by unscrupulous retailers attempting to profit from customers who are unlikely to question their purchase.
How long do Epiphones last? ›
Epiphone is a quality instrument, that should last a lifetime if properly cared for. I owned one electric and two acoustic models and was very impressed with the quality. I have an epi Les Paul custom since 2006, it's been gigged for five years and only required one tuning head replaced.
What year did Epiphone move to China? ›International demand for Epiphones was so high that the company opened a new factory in China in 2004, the first time that Epiphone had its own dedicated factory since the merging with Gibson in 1957. Epiphone's Made in USA Collection features three iconic Epiphone original instruments rather than Gibson copies.
When did they stop making Epiphone in Korea? ›The Korean factory stopped making Epiphones in 2002.
Why does some Epiphone say Gibson? ›They were basically Standards but with nicer stock tuners and pickups and a few different finish options. Some of them came with 'Gibson' trussrod covers, but so have all Epi models at some point time, so that really isn't an indication of model and should just be ignored.
Is Guild owned by Fender? ›In 2014, Guild is acquired by Cordoba Music Group from Fender Musical Instruments Corporation.
Why did Gibson go out of business? ›Gibson found itself drowning in a $500 million debt — a byproduct of attempted expansion into consumer electronics and lifestyle branding. Entering chapter 11 bankruptcy, the company needed a lifeboat, and fast.
Are Epiphones lighter than Gibsons? ›Both brands make prominent use of mahogany, but we've often found comparable Gibson models to be lighter than the Epiphones, not to mention the fact that Epiphone bodies tend to be made up of more pieces joined together. Whilst this doesn't necessarily affect the tone, it's certainly a cost-cutting measure.
What's better Gibson or Fender? ›Both guitars can be used in similar settings in blues and rock; however, Fenders are used more in modern music, country, funk, and overall where a lower gain brighter tone is needed, whereas Gibsons tend to be more friendly to high gain and are used more in hard rock.
Does an Epiphone SG sound like a Gibson? ›Epiphone SG's tone is not far from Gibson SG's tone, as the Alnico Classic PRO Humbuckers are based on the Gibson SG's 490R and 490T pickups. However, as they are the cost-effective versions of their bigger brother, they lack finesse and articulation.
